Monday 9/6/2014

Today was a little bit of a rite off with regards to building work as it was another public holiday and the builders were not around for the tools we needed but im sure tomorrow we will be able to dig some more holes and saw some more wood.

Instead we had a sports day for all the boarders at the school. It was so much fun! We played dodge ball, volley ball and some other game with a ball over a net where you have to catch it and if you don’t your out. We also played rounder’s after. Slowly but surley they were getting the rules to the games with only a few boys messing about not going out of the games when they were clearly out. They even went to the extent of changing shirts to try and fool us so they could carry on playing, but we soon caught on.

Rich, Emma, Kim and I had a few hours off in the afternoon to let some of the other volunteers do crafts, homework and a quiz with the children. There are a few volunteers that love to do a lot of nothing ad much as they can so we tried to get them involved a bit more. Rich and I set our eyes on making a hammock for the volunteers to use. I think its more for me so I can sunbathe without getting bitten by ants from the floor lol.

After tea at 4pm we took the kids to a local football pitch where the boys and I had a big 90 muinet football game against a local team. We set up a pitch for the girls on the rest of the field and Emma got a few games going. It was interesting there was cow pats all over the field and the children had bare feet and just ran through them as if they wasn’t there. Highly disgusting as I almost slipped over in one, thankfully I had my shoes on!!
