In the morning we was still unsure if this
trip to some land was on the cards so we took a few of the guy volunteers to
show them what needs to be built so when we are away some work can still get
done. A metal monkey bar got bent out of its socket so we bodged on a pick axe
handle as a replacement. Its quite supprising how much stuff we give them they
still manage to brake it. For example we also gave them three swing balls and
already the balls have all disappeared.
Several new volunteers have arrived which
is great there is a nice guy called Bradley and his girl friendHelen they are
here for a month so I’m sure to get to know them a little.
Turned out we
left for this land around 11am and it took us about 3 hours to get there packed
in to this jeep through the midday sun. I got a photo of us at the equator line
but didn’t have any water to test out the theory that water spins down a plug
hole in the opposite direction if you cross this line. We arrived without a
hitch and because the land is at a river side we had fresh fish for dinner and
sat around the fire talking of plans for our time there and what is going to be
involved. I questioned why wasn’t the filtration equipment above ground as it
would be far easier to service. After a beer it was time for bed as I knew I
was in for a hard day’s work.
Certainly sounds interesting.
